Kiana Rahmani was born in Iran and currently lives and works in Sydney, Australia. Rahmani’s current art practice incorporates the exploration of Iranian culture and aesthetics through its rich heritage and painting style, she is linking her investigation to real world subjects and the rich Iranian painting style known as miniature art and designs. Kiana is researching Iranian culture through figurative paintings and the art design traditions and styles of Iran. The creation of these works are mostly therapeutic and takes Kiana back to her cultural roots. Her objective is to identify her home heritage and to demonstrate and create a deep sense of cultural identity. Kiana uses traditional oil paint and canvas to create these works and uses studio based photography as a basis for gridding onto her canvas, her works will portray and focus on the figures with a sense of cultural depth and symbolisms.
